Today, 5th of October, the WSL Tour 2016 reached our beautiful home spots Hossegor and Seignosse. After the thrilling contest in Trestles, California, things have changed quite a bit. Matti Wilkinson, who is known for his fancy wetsuit game, has been struggling during the recent contests and lost the yellow jersey to John John Florence. Gabriel Medina who put on quite a performance to win last year’s stop in Hossegor, is currently ranked 3rd. Our hero and the “best surfer of all times” Mr. Kelly Slater hasn’t had the best of beginnings to the season but could manage to climb up to being 5th after winning Teahupo’o, Tahiti. We’ll root for him here in France.
Of course we are especially excited for the Girls to make their stop in Hossegor after battling for the win in Cascais, Portugal. Reigning Hossegor winner Tyler Wright is currently holding the top spot in the Jeep Leaders rankings with a total of 53,000 points after winning 4 contests. Right now Courtney Conlogue seems to be the only contender for the yellow shirt.
The MSW wave forecast is very promising and we are more than happy to able to witness such an event right here in our backyard. Like always, our timetable will be ruled by the Quicksilver Pro contest from sunrise to sunset in order to make sure that we won’t miss a single heat (via livestream, if necessary). So we’re going to enjoy our front row seats at the beautiful beach, keep our fingers crossed for all the guys and try to take as many pictures as possible. To call it a perfect day we will hit the afterparties as well. No doubt about that. Seems like the best possible ending of what has been a marvelous sommer of 2016 here in Seignosse, doesn’t it?
See you guys!
